  Being Chamber Member

I am asked quite frequently about who can be a member of Merkel Chamber of Commerce.  You don't have to be a business, anyone can join.  Membership is broken down into several categories.  Associate member or non-voting, cost is $12.00 per year.  Individual membership is $36.00 per year; business with under four employees is $60.00; company with five to ten employees is $120.00; company with over ten employees is $180.00; and non-profit organizations, schools and city is $120.00.
If you would like more information on membership  give us a call or e-mail and we will show you the benefits of being a Chamber of Commerce member.

REAL ESTATE LISTINGS NEEDED

There is always a need for housing in the Merkel area. Everyday someone is either calling or dropping by to check out the listing, and by the way I have none listed on the for rent side. The for sale side has a few, but driving around town there are many signs up in yards, but realtors, some by owners. In the past when the need was great, I did the drive up and down every street looking for houses vacant, as well as those with signs out front. If I did not know the owner I tried looking up the information on the Taylor County tax collectors site. I even get calls now asking if I can get an owners name and address.

Rentals seem to be the biggest housing in demand, with two and three bedrooms houses on top of the list.

If you have property for sale or rent, please contact the Chamber office with that information, so postings can be put on the big board in the window, as well as the website.

COMMENTS FROM THE CHAMBER OFFICE

I want to apologize for some errors in last months publication.  In my old days at the Merkel Mail, deadline was set for Tuesday's at noon.  Last month I had everything set at 4 pages, and within a matter of a couple hours, I had three new members wanting in the issue.   I suddenly went from four pages to eight pages.  The editing I was do

ing went down the drain, as I evidently did not make the changes on my proof sheet.  Time wise the printer was waiting, and things were moving pretty fast.  I hope in this issue everything is corrected, and if it is not, you must know things are moving rather fast as we must get to the printer so we can get the newsletter back out before this big weekend.

I can not begin to thank my volunteer help enough, Charles and Chatty Cass, William Hoisington, Sy and Connie Mann, Teresa Owens and Sarah Lucas for all the help from editing, helping me get things moved and cleaning up the office.  Thank you so very much.
